“We Remember”
Beneath the quiet morning sky,
Where poppies bloom and banners fly,
We pause our hearts, our hands, our day,
To honor those who paved the way.
Through fields of fear and skies of flame,
They stood for peace, not pride or name,
Their courage stitched in every breath,
Their legacy outlasting death.
The world they dreamed, we hold it dear,
Their whispers echo year to year.
For freedom’s light, their lives they gave
A promise kept beyond the grave.
So on this day, we bow our heads,
In thanks for all the tears once shed.
May we remember - always strive,
To keep their spirit warm, alive.
We acknowledge with gratitude that we live, work, and gather on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples—specifically the Xwsepsum (Esquimalt), Lekwungen (Songhees), Sc’ianew (Beecher Bay), and the W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples, represented by the Tsartlip, Pauquachin, Tsawout, Tseycum, and Malahat Nations. We honour their enduring connection to this land and commit to meaningful reconciliation.
