What is Canada Day?
Canada Day marks the anniversary of Confederation—when Canada officially became a country on July 1, 1867, uniting Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia into the Dominion of Canada. It’s a time for celebration, reflection, and of course fireworks!
Fun Canada Day Facts:
Canada Day was originally called "Dominion Day" until it was renamed in 1982.
Ottawa’s Parliament Hill hosts one of the country’s biggest celebrations, complete with music, speeches, and a flyover from the Snowbirds.
Quebec’s “Moving Day” also falls on July 1, with thousands of residents changing homes—making it the busiest moving day in Canada!
Canada is responsible for producing over 70% of the world’s maple syrup (mainly in Quebec). Sweet, right?
